FUNDECI is a Non Governmental Organization which
was organized by Father Miguel D'Escoto after the devastating earthquake of
1972.

Father Miguel D'Escoto founded
FUNDECI after the devastating earthquake of 1972. Since its inception FUNDECI has been a
major contributor to the health and nutrition of the poor people of Nicaragua. Under his
excellent leadership thousands of children have been fed and are now being educated to
become self sufficient. He has dedicated his life to the poor and continues to
support them in their struggles. |

Carolina Espinosa
has been associated with FUNDECI for over 6 years. She works incredible hours to meet the
needs of the people who depend upon FUNDECI for sustenance. Her constant smile is a beacon
for every visitor to become a part of the programs of FUNDECI. Her organizational skills
and attention to detail mean that the brigadistas from the United States are able to do
their most capable work. She is always able to handle any problems with sleeping
arrangements or food. |

Octavio Corea is Executive
Director of FUNDECI. He has been a part of the struggle for the poor for many years. He
has a great ability to interact with the facilitators of Nicaragua to allow mission work
to go forward. He knows the rules and helps visitors have a problem free tour. His ability
to navigate the offices and agencies of government is phenomenal. He seems to know
everyone and can listen actively and effectively to ideas for better ways to assist the
poor. |
